Charles “Chuck” L. Hyde, 69, of South Whitley, passed away unexpectedly at 10:49 p.m. Oct. 29, 2011, in his residence.
He was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Warsaw, to Bruce Sr. and Matilda “Isabelle” Blodgett Hyde. On Oct. 29, 1982, in Pierceton, he married Becky S. Eamick, who survives.
Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, he was a U.S. Marine and worked at Warsaw Foundry; maintenance for Conrail for 16 years; City of Warsaw; and Fiber Form Inc., retiring in 2003. He attended Warsaw Schools and loved God and his Bible first of all. He was a member of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church and was known to play his bass along with friends to “Old Time Gospel Music” – the music he so enjoyed. He was always passing out angel coins to everyone he met. He was a self-taught jack of all trades by being resourceful and was glad to help with anything without pay of any kind. When visiting, eating was a must – especially ice cream for the grandchildren. He was the best dad in the world to his children and grandchildren and he treated Becky as if she were a queen.
Also surviving are four daughters: Sherri (and spouse Randy) Gephart, Claypool; Jennifer Rico, Geisla Denney and Cassie Sparks, all of Warsaw; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther (and spouse Delois) Zimmerman, Palestine, and Glenda Wood and Jean (and spouse Bob) Campbell, all of Warsaw; three brothers, Bruce (and spouse Sharon) Hyde Jr., William Michael (and spouse Janet) Hyde and David Hyde, all of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Hyde, who died Nov. 6, 1985; a great-grandson, Xavier Antonio Valdez, who died Oct. 18, 2011; and a sister, LuAnne Rice, who died Nov. 28, 2009.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Wray McCalester of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
