Bruce Allen Brickel

Bruce Allen Brickel, 86, Winona Lake, passed away at 11:32 a.m. June 11, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Rittman, Ohio, to Herl Clair and Mabel Frances Auker Brickel. On June 19, 1948, he was married to Nita May Bookamer, who survives in Winona Lake. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1969 where he was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. He was a graduate of Rittman High School in Ohio, and a 1949 graduate of Bryan University in Dayton, Tenn. He was the owner of a print shop in Ohio called Bruce Print; he also built the BMH Printing for Herald Print Shop in Winona Lake. He owned and operated Lakeview Laundromat, Winona Lake, as well as being the owner of Furniture Factory Outlet, Warsaw. He always kept busy and worked for Fast Courier, Warsaw, as a driver, and was part of a quartet called The Brethren Four. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons: Doug (and spouse Donna) Brickel, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Don (and spouse Sandy) Brickel, Franklin, Tenn.; Duane Brickel, Plano, Texas; a daughter, Lynn (and spouse Dale) Lehman, Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Landis, Sandusky, Ohio, and Janet Holsinger, Wadsworth, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, a grandson and his daughter-in-law, Rosie Brickel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
