Betty L. Burkett, 71, Pierceton, passed away at 8:37 p.m. Feb. 12, 2014, in Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Emma, Ky., to Elkana and Louverna Osborn Sexton. On Aug. 3, 1959, in Floyd County, Ky., she married Donald Burkett, who died in 2002. She was a 47-year resident of Kosciusko County and formerly resided in Floyd County, Ky. She is retired from Stonehenge Golf Course where she was employed as a cook and is a member of the Harvest Community Church, Pierceton. Surviving are three daughters: Donna (and spouse Robert) Tusing, Mesquite, Texas; Annie (and spouse Mandy) Espinoza and Mary Alley and son, Jerry Burkett, all of Pierceton; five brothers; four sisters; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
