AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings got off to a great start Wednesday evening, leading them to the end result they were looking for. In a high school softball matchup with Three Rivers Conference rival Whitko, the third-ranked team in Class 2A, Valley scored three runs in the first inning and went on to win 3-1.

AKRON – Valley’s Layne Prater hurled a one-hitter against Whitko on Wednesday and led the Vikings to a 10-0 Three Rivers Conference win in five innings.

Though dark clouds hovered above the Tigers Athletic Complex Tuesday evening, there was no precipitation.

On a cloudy Tuesday evening, the Warsaw Tiger golf team played through some tough course conditions and shot the team’s lowest nine-hole score of the season.

This column is specifically intended to be read by and shared with parents and grandparents who have kids that are playing Little League this summer. There is a video that is burning holes in phones and computers across America over the last two weeks. It’s been shared hundreds of thousands of times, and I know I have watched it more than 30 times just to make sure I see everything there is to see. It is mesmerizing.

In the second matchup of the season between Warsaw and Concord, the Minutemen won 8-5 over the Tigers in high school baseball action Monday. In the Northern Lakes Conference showdown, Warsaw (5-13, 3-10 NLC) was looking to sweep the season series, but a six-run sixth inning by Concord (4-12, 4-6 NLC) put an end to those thoughts.

WINONA LAKE – Grace College’s track and field team wrapped up the NCCAA National Championships with a number of memorable performances. The throwers powered the day for the Lancers, placing well in nearly every event in which they competed.

Leading 1-0, the Warsaw Lady Tigers gave up three runs in the top of the sixth inning Friday night.

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s varsity softball team got off to a great start Friday evening and cruised to a 17-2, five-inning win over Northern Lakes Conference rival Plymouth.
