MILFORD – Dean L. Troup, 90, passed away Dec. 7, 2016, at Fairview Nursing Home in Centreville, Mich. He was born July 28, 1926, to Alton and Dessie Klingaman Troup in Nappanee. After graduating from high school, Dean joined the U.S. Army and honorably served during World War II. He was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Ida Funk. They married on Oct. 7, 1948, then moved to Milford in December 1948. Although they were both lifetime residents, they loved to visit Germany and travel the United States.

Olive May Hope, 90, Warsaw, formerly of Sweetser, died Dec. 7, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born July 11, 1926, in Prairie Creek to Elmer and Edna Shoemaker Hayworth. She married Charles “Charlie” Hope on Feb. 19, 1948, in Terre Haute. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2008.

MENTONE — Frank J. Layne, 89, Burket, died Dec. 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born June 1, 1927, in Phelps, Ky., to Orville and Clemtine Hurley Layne. On May 12, 1947, in Pikeville, Ky., he married Gladys M. Blankenship, who passed away Aug. 19, 2004. He was a mechanic for several area General Motors dealerships. In years past he enjoyed socializing with friends. Survivors include a daughter, Lechia (husband Joe) Manns, Claypool; a son, Freelin Layne, Claypool; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Gladys M. Layne; a daughter; Edna Presley; a sister; and four brothers. No services are planned. A remembrance place will be at Palestine Cemetery. Mildred “Millie” L. Neal Koerner,Warsaw, passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2016, at the AVOW Frances Georgeson Hospice House in Naples, Fla., at the age of 96. Born on July 11, 1920, Millie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Koerner, who transitioned to his new life on Aug. 25, 1999. They were married on June 22, 1946.

BOURBON — Bryan Lee Everett, 53, Tippecanoe, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Dec. 3, 2016, following a long battle with cancer. His journey began on July 8, 1963, in London, England, where his dad was stationed. He met the love of his life while in high school in 1980, and married his love, Jill Muensterman, on Sept. 24, 1988, after receiving his degree from Tri-State University. He worked in the automotive, orthopedic device and metal industries over the past 28 years.
Jo Anne Disbro, 76, Winona Lake, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Dec. 3, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 47 years. She and her husband, Al, were the first houseparents for Riverwood Ranch. She worked as an accountant for Herald Bookstore and was the controller at WRSW radio station for a number of years. She was chief financial officer for Multi-Township Emergency Medical Services, Warsaw, for over 10 years.
Walter Lee Stafford, 69, Warsaw, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Dec. 2, 2016, in his residence. He was born July 28, 1947, to Walter Buford and Lola C. Scott Stafford in Double Springs, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage on June 7, 1977, to Maxine Slone in Clintwood, Va.

Bessie Jackson, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Dec. 5, 2016, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake. On Feb. 20, 1926, she was born in Paintsville, Ky., to Elliott and Creasy Spencer Ratliff. She was united in marriage to Haskell Jackson on Aug. 13, 1945, in Paintsville. He died in July 1987.

Julie Marie Monteith, 55, died peacefully in her home on the afternoon of Dec. 2, 2016. She was born May 3, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minn., to her late father, Ray W. Monteith, and her loving, surviving mother, Jan Monteith. She graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1979. She began her commitment to furthering her education at Ohio Wesleyan, where she was very active in her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. After a few semesters, she changed her major and enrolled in Indiana University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in communication.
Terry John Klondaris, 91, Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 4, 2016. He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Warsaw, to John and Helen Bechakas Klondaris. On Sept. 12, 1948, he was married to Martha Cox, who survives in Warsaw. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
