MILFORD – Dean L. Troup, 90, passed away Dec. 7, 2016, at Fairview Nursing Home in Centreville, Mich. 
He was born July 28, 1926, to Alton and Dessie Klingaman Troup in Nappanee. After graduating from high school, Dean joined the U.S. Army and honorably served during World War II. He was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Ida Funk. They married on Oct. 7, 1948, then moved to Milford in December 1948. Although they were both lifetime residents, they loved to visit Germany and travel the United States.
He worked as a supervisor for NIA Manufacturing for several years. He enjoyed being active in the community and was very civic-minded. He was a scoutmaster for five years, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Milford Parks Board. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and a lifetime member of the American Legion in Milford.
He is survived by his brother, Evar (spouse Mary Ellen) Troup, Milford; and a sister, Shelly Troup, California.
He was preceded by his wife of 59 years, Ida Troup; his parents; and two brothers, Keith Troup and Irvin Troup.
A funeral service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milford. Pastor Wendy Piano will officiate, with burial following at Milford Cemetery.
Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
