Robert D. “Bob” Blakeley, 78, Winona Lake, passed away at 5:24 a.m. Dec. 18, 2016, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake. On Feb. 8, 1938, he was born in Newark, Ohio, to C. Dell and Florence Bonham Blakeley. A 50-year resident of Warsaw, he was a former manager of Kline’s Department Store, retiring in 1986. He then purchased Kosko Manufacturing, where he retired in 2006.
Chandra Damon, Warsaw, passed away after a lengthy illness at 4:33 p.m. Dec. 19, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, at the age of 45. She was born Sept. 10, 1971, in Warsaw, to Cinda Stouder and Terry Julian, who both survive in Warsaw. On Nov. 16, 1996, she was married to Stephen Damon and they shared 20 wonderful years together. Chandra spent her entire life in Kosciusko County, where she was a 1989 graduate of Warsaw High School and then graduated from Ball State University.
MENTONE — Vernon R. Spurlock Sr., 91, Mentone, died at 7:35 a.m. Dec. 15, 2016. He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Hernshaw, W.Va., to William and Beulah Tucker Spurlock. On Oct. 10, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he married Elizabeth C. “Betty” Halstedt. She survives.

Donnabelle Zimmer 89, Warsaw, passed away Dec. 17, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw. She was born July 13, 1927, in Warsaw, to Samuel S. and Ethel L. Godfrey Smith. She married Richard A. Zimmer on June 4, 1949, in Fort Wayne. They were married 55 years until his passing on July 8, 2004. She was a 1945 graduate of Fort Wayne South Side High School and a lifetime Warsaw resident. She was an antiques dealer for more than 50 years. She was a volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital for more than 40 years and had volunteered at the American Red Cross. She was a 4-H leader in the 1950s and 1960s. She loved animals, especially dogs. Survivors include a son, Bill (spouse Marcia) Zimmer, Winona Lake; two daughters, Janet Zimmer and Debbie Swihart, both of Warsaw; two granddaughters, Summer Zimmer, Winona Lake, and Satin (spouse Ryan) Lemon. Huntington; and a great-granddaughter, Landree Lemon, Huntington. She was preceded by her husband, Richard A. Zimmer, July 8, 2004. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw. Kathryn “Katy” Irene Bouse, 91, Warsaw, passed away Dec. 15, 2016, in her Warsaw home. She was born July 6, 1925, in Warsaw, to Robert L. and Lillie McSherry Chinworth. On Sept. 22, 1946, in Warsaw, she married Forrest W. Bouse. They were married 58 years until his passing on June 8, 2005. She was a lifetime Warsaw resident and a 1943 graduate of Warsaw High School. She was employed at the Kosciusko County assessor’s office for 20 years.

MILFORD — Dale R. Stump, 91, Milford, passed away Dec. 13, 2016, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford. He was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Nappanee, to Clayton and Hazel Defreese Stump. He graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1943 and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Glennis Orn on June 17, 1944, in San Jose, Calif.
Sally L. Baker, 71, Milford, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Dec. 14, 2016, at Goshen Hospital. She was born May 26, 1945, in Warsaw, to Ralph E. and Gladys Marie Hollar Berkeypile. She was a lifetime Milford area resident and graduated in 1963 from Milford High School. She was married May 27, 1964, at St. Mark’s Church in Goshen, to Dean E. Baker, who survives.
Norman Allen Gunsolley, Winona Lake, passed away at 6:39 a.m. Dec. 12, 2016, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, at the age of 72 after a four-month battle with cancer. He graduated from high school in 1962 in Columbus, Neb. In 1966 he received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Trinity College, Deerfield, Ill., and earned his master’s degree in school administration from the University of South Dakota in 1970. Before retiring in 2012, Norman had a 46-year career in education. He had a passion for Christian education and began his career with schools in Illinois. Later he started Community Christian School in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and worked there for 10 years until moving to Kosciusko County in 1987. The last 25 years of his career were spent as the administrator at Warsaw Christian School. He was a former member of the International Association of Christian Schools.
Phyllis E. Stayer, 79, North Manchester, died at 6:03 p.m. Dec. 13, 2016, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Bippus, to Willis and Geraldine Cunningham Sims. On Oct. 1, 1955, she married Gerald E. Stayer, who died Jan. 30, 2015.
