Angela Marshall, 49, Leesburg, died at 5:26 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in her residence, surrounded by family and friends.

Lorene Spice, 92, formerly of the Akron and Silver Lake areas, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Fulton County, to Porter and Luvilla Ballenger Rhodes. She was married by the Rev. Slaybaugh to Donnelly D. Spice on April 19, 1947, in Akron. He survives. She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife, doing the work that was needed on the farm.

Douglas D. Shively, 67, of 1825 Pleasant Drive, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in his home.   He was born Aug. 9, 1950, in Goshen, and resided the early part of his life in Leesburg.

Edwin D. Biesemeyer, 93, Warsaw, died at 6:40 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Warsaw Meadows.

Brent Allan Howard, Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 4:08 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his residence at the age of 39. He was born Feb. 22, 1979, in Warsaw, to Donald R. Howard and Linda Barber Howard. He was married on July 3, 2005, to Dara Dawalt, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, where he was a 1997 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. 

Peter D. Wolkins, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 6:32 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born Aug. 2, 1936, in Tabor, Iowa, he was the son of Merrille and Mary Roe Wolkins. He graduated from Warsaw High School with the Class of 1955 and went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served until 1959 and went on to serve in the Navy Reserve until 1963.

Robert "Rob" L. Wilson, 65, Rochester, died at 11:49 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Hickory Creek of Rochester. He was born Feb. 24, 1953, in Rochester, to Russell and Lois Gaumer Wilson.

Wesley Lynn “Wes” Darting, 57, Milford, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, in his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1960, in Topeka, Kan., to Richard and Jane A. Miller Ream. He was married on June 11, 2016, in Milford, to Wendi D. Street, who survives.

Raymond "Ray" Hochstetler, 53, Rochester, died at 6:45 p.m. March 16, 2018, at Life Care Center, Rochester. He was born Sept. 17, 1964, in Elkhart, to Glen and Sara Antisdale Hochstetler.

William M. “Bill” Cochran, 83, Mentone, died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his residence. He was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Marshall County, to John A. and Edna M. Marsh Cochran. On May 20, 1961, in Mentone, he was married to Linda L. Besson. She survives. Bill retired in 1993 from NIPSCO, Warsaw, working on the gas crew. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He was member of Mentone Church of Christ for over 58 years.

Karen L. Murphy, 68, North Manchester, died at 10:37 a.m. March 14, 2018, in her residence. She was born July 28, 1949, in Warsaw, to Keith B. and Audrey J.  Coldren. She worked at Invensys Controls, North Manchester, for many years and was an Avon representative for several years. She was currently employed at Combined Community Services, Warsaw, for several years.

Joyce Ann Simmons, 58, North Manchester, died at 5:30 a.m. March 13, 2018, in her residence. She was born May 26, 1959, in Jackson, Ky., to Jake Bittie and Ann Ruth Robinson Fugate.

Donald E. Frantz died March 15, 2018, at Grace Village, Winona Lake. He was 92. He co-owned and operated Frantz Lumber Co., North Manchester, for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1987. Since then, he divided his time between Tippecanoe Lake and Deltona. He only recently moved to Grace Village. He was born Nov. 16, 1925, to Oakley Paul and Marie Aileen Pottenger in North Manchester. He graduated from Chester High School and Purdue University and served as a radar operator in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Donald Eugene Gibson, 83, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at Peabody Rehab Center, North Manchester. Mr. Gibson was born the son of Elizabeth Gibson on March 26, 1934, in West Prestonsburg, Ky.

James Leon Frieden, 92, Silver Lake, died at 1:50 p.m. March 1, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Wabash County, to Henry W. and Anna Pearl Reed Frieden. He married Margaret Shenefield on Dec. 15, 1946. She survives. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Dec. 23, 1943, to May 23, 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater as radioman 2nd class petty officer. He was awarded two battle stars for the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He managed Strauss Elevator, Silver Lake, for 32 years.

Dona Jean Hatfield, 94, “stepped on shore finding it heaven” on March 15, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Aug. 20, 1923, to Paul and Ocie Parker Newcomb. On Oct. 22, 1946, she married George Davis Hatfield, who died Dec. 25, 2009. Surviving are a son, Chip (Paula) Gast, Warsaw; a daughter, Kim (Kent) Ring, Claypool; four grandchildren: Doug Yarian, Warsaw; Chad (Fayth) Silveus, Phoenix, Ariz.; Samira (Daniel) Myers, Lake Placid, Fla.; and Charissa (Matthew) Borden, Jupiter, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren: Nilsson, Violet and Aiden.

Rob L. Wilson, 65, Rochester, died at 11:49 p.m. March 15, 2018, at Hickory Creek.
