Editor, Times-Union: Mr. Fribley, thank you for reading my ads as well as my letter in response to your comments regarding D.E.I. In your last, brief response in Friday’s Times-Union, you correctly called me out for not giving credit or reference to my favorite verse. I appreciate your attention to detail.
Editor, Times-Union: Integrity is something we have a short supply of. Most politicians seem to lack integrity. Businesspeople often have no integrity because they think making money is the most important thing in the world.
Editor, Times-Union: As a longtime reader, letter-writer, and resident of Indiana’s forgotten corners, I’ve learned not to expect much from state leadership. But even my cynicism has limits — and this year’s legislative session seems determined to exceed them.
Editor, Times-Union: Adding a motor to a wheelchair doesn't ban it from walkways, but not all wheelchairs look like wheelchairs. There ought to be a sign at each entrance to the Greenway saying that golf carts, e-bikes, and other small, quiet motor vehicles are allowed to use the trail if they display a handicapped-parking card issued to the operator or one of the passengers
Editor, Times-Union: This will be the last letter I will ever write on DEI (Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion) since I’m a senior and I don’t care one way or the other.
Editor, Times-Union: It’s been a couple of months since my last letter, so I wanted to provide an update on the ongoing concerns surrounding the transparency and accountability of the Turkey Creek Dam & Dike Conservancy District (TCDDCD). I also believe it’s worth asking, once again, how this tax-levying government body justifies its continued budget.
Editor, Times-Union: I had always called myself an “Independent” voter, who picked a Democrat most of the time. I respect the values for ordinary people, instead of trusting “trickle down.” I’ve lived in Republican strongholds since childhood, and I got along with people who had different political beliefs. Voting was private and sometimes I chose Republicans.
Editor, Times-Union: I would like to say thanks to all the businesses that let me sit poppy cans in their businesses for the veterans poppy drive. And thanks to all that donated.
Editor, Times-Union: Dear Mr. Fribley, I have never, ever, ever called MAGAs “stupid” or “brain dead.” How interesting that those are words chosen by you — not me. I suggest you re-read my ad explaining what D.E.I. really is and why it had become an important teaching tool in businesses, law enforcement, education, public service programs, the military, etc. Are you suggesting that we do not need to learn to understand people different from us so that we can get along better with each other? Or are you part of the faction of believers who insists we all should think alike, look alike, behave alike and reject all who are in any way different? Do you believe what Trump and his administration have suggested, that having DEI programs in place means the “white” jobs will be replaced by unqualified “other color” people?
Editor, Times-Union: Though it is highly unlikely fervent Trump supporters will even consider news or analysis outside the strict confines of Fox News, Newsmax, and entertainers-presumed-to-be-journalists like Joe Rogan, it would behoove them (especially), and all of us to see what people outside our fringe bubbles are saying.
Editor, Times-Union: As a child I remember my family was neither Democrat or Republican. Their motto was always to be fair, learn about the ones running for office. Mom always said there is good and bad in both sides. You must always remember to vote for the person you feel is right for America. We may not always agree with those in office, but stand behind each one to unite our nation. We do not see eye to eye but maybe at least try to understand their viewpoint.
Editor, Times-Union: I attended the No Kings protest after I left work on Saturday the 14th. I figured it would be peaceful since we are far more civilized in Indiana than they are on both coasts. It was nice to be in opposition to most of what the people believed and not be beat up. There were some guys with Trump flags driving by that yelled at them. But I was expecting that. At least no one threw anything at them.
Editor, Times-Union: I don’t understand Miss Winona Lake. She writes about DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion). She writes, “We have different experiences, genealogies, beliefs, talents, family traditions and ideas.” But if we are MAGA (Make America Great Again), she calls us stupid and brain-dead.
Editor, Times-Union: I live on a rural route and typically for several months, I will not receive mail one day per week. Starting last Saturday, I received no mail but it was delivered late Sunday afternoon. This week, no received on Monday or Tuesday. I went to the Post Office and was able to get it. I was told my Wednesday mail was out for delivery. Not sure where it was delivered because I again did not receive mail on Wednesday or Thursday. I need to make another trip to town to retrieve mail. Multiple people were at the Post Office for the same reason. We were told that three routes have been added. Apparently, these routes have no carriers?
Editor, Times-Union: The VFW Auxiliary Post 1126 of Warsaw would like to thank Rural King and Runnings.
Editor, Times-Union: Eighty-one years ago on June 6, a fight for the Free World was waged and won on the beaches of Normandy. The mission was to defeat Hitler, the Nazis and fascist rule in Europe. This year we again honor those troops for their bravery, their determination, and their sacrifices. This year D-Day is “on our own shores,” and now we must fight for the veterans who fought so bravely for us.
Editor, Times-Union: In previous letters to the editor, I wrote about possible candidates for the 51st state in the Union. Those candidates were divided into three categories: current U.S. territories, Article IV Section 3 state (one that could split off from a current state) and potential new territories. An Article IV Section 3 state is highly unlikely and has not been done since the creation of West Virginia.
Editor, Times-Union: With Republicans in control of all branches of government in Washington and Indianapolis, Hoosiers are beginning to understand what it means for their lives, and it's not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow we were promised. There's hardly a person who hasn't felt the negative impact of what Republicans have wrought.
Editor, Times-Union: For over 55 years, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has been holding an annual fundraiser selling gourmet nuts and candy. We have been notified that our supplier is closing its door at the end of June.
Editor, Times-Union: Several weeks ago, I had an operation of my foot, I would like to thank several people.
Editor, Times-Union: Donald Trump’s first 100 days have provided the most destruction, lawlessness, and cruelty our country has ever experienced. His words, his actions, his broken (yes, broken) promises have stripped America of its robust and growing economy and of its position of respect, admiration and strength the world over. In just 100 days the majority of America’s people have become angrier, poorer, more divided, and more fearful for their futures than ever before in history. His incessant autographing of unlawful, unconstitutional, hateful executive orders (over 140 of them) has been — in his mind — a crowning achievement.
Editor, Times-Union: Democrats have a long history of supporting lawlessness and they have the nerve to say no one is above the law. At times they act like spoiled children that expect to get their way all the time even if they have been naughty.
Editor, Times-Union: We have a "gem" in news reporting here in Warsaw!
Editor, Times-Union: Is there no one in the Democrat Party able to repair this mind-numbing broken record? Faced with having to come up with a message the American citizens will listen to is difficult after having lied to them for all these years. Rep. AOC and her socialist geriatric side kick have gone on tour and have come up with a new name for Donald Trump and his friend Elon Musk ... Oligarchy. I guess it’s better than Hitler or Nazi but it is a word made popular by Vladimir Lenin during the Bolshevik ascension to power in the Russian Revolution of 1917, ushering in the Communist Party.
Editor, Times-Union: Something special is happening in Warsaw. Slate Electric Vehicles has announced plans to bring new life to the old LSC Communications building — a facility that once printed millions of Sears catalogs for homes across America. There’s a kind of poetic irony here: a building that once helped connect people to the future is about to do it all over again, only now through electric vehicles instead of printed pages.
