Letters To The Editor

- Seeking Answers - Gas Prices - Seat Belt Effectiveness Seeking Answers Editor, Times-Union: I was nearly killed here in Warsaw when a van running a stop sign had crashed into the passenger side of my car. Hundreds of times since then, I had wished that my life had ended then. The "doctor" in the local hospital ER department did not diagnose the seriousness of my accident. My head had busted the driver side door window.I had a concussion and serious neck injury. The ER "doctor" said I could take my neck brace off after 24 hours.Doctor No.2 told me that I should have had my neck brace on for 30 days. Over five years later, I still have head and neck pains, as well as pains on my left side of my body from shoulder down to ankle.

- Dog Welcome - Thankful For Jesus Dog Welcome Editor, Times-Union: I cannot get the article about the dog at Yellow Creek Lake out of my mind.My heart goes out to this animal who is left to itself unloved and un-cared for. This ran in the Dec.8 Times-Union newspaper.I wrote to Channel 16 news about this dog.I rescue Boston Terriers and have done so for several years now.If the owners do not want this dog, please let someone have it to love and care for.I have four dogs I have in rescue, but I would make room for this dog.If the owner of this animal would contact the Times-Union, I would be glad to take this dog to love and care for or find him/her a good home.

Editor, Times-Union: H. Thurston Jameson III pulled up to his favorite restaurant just before noon in his late model silver Cadillac. His home, a palace overlooking one of the many lakes in the area, was just a few miles away.

Editor, Times-Union:I would like to encourage everyone to vote on Nov 6. It is your right, it is your privilege and more importantly, it is your responsibility. If you don’t vote, then don’t complain. Only voters have the right to do that.

In early 2014 the Cardinal Services’ board of directors crafted and adopted a new mission statement which would more clearly portray the organization: to assist and advocate for people with disabilities or challenges to live lives full of dignity, growth and opportunity.

Editor, Times-Union:We were beginning to have concerns over the care packages we ship to our troops as our major shipping sponsor has had to cut back on their donations due to the decrease in the economy.

Editor, Times-Union:Rep. V. Simpson said the Right to Work (RTW) bill passed because of anecdotes and myths about unnamed companies saying they wouldn’t come to Indiana without RTW laws. Let’s see how some of these anecdotes and myths stand up to reality (usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-02-10/indiana_right_to_work/529163).

- Alone At Christmas - Thanks To Students - Enjoyed Film Festival Alone At Christmas Editor, Times-Union: Once more, Christmas has come and gone, but for those who are alone on that special holy day, it hardly seems like Christmas. It is particularly difficult for the elderly to be alone on Christmas and, to them, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are often just another evening and another day.Now when you're alone on Christmas and up in years, you have two choices. You can either sit around and feel sorry for yourself, or you can reminisce - that is, you can transport your mind back to the good old days when you were young and had your family around you.

- Optimist Theft Optimist Theft Editor, Times-Union: This is a letter to those young people who broke into the old Endicott Building where the Breakfast Optimist Club holds its annual Haunted House. You probably told your parents you got them from a friend and they bought it.You probably have some neat little "action" going on in your bedroom, garage or attic.Cool man. Now we don't want to spoil your fun.In fact we want you to keep the stuff and this year YOU can operate the Haunted House. It's quite a bit of work to set up and then you have to get about 25 of your friends to help you run it for seven to eight nights. This shouldn't be a big problem for resourceful guys and gals like you.
