Case For Galloway

Editor, Times-Union:
For the voters of Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District, it is now time to choose a representative to the United States Congress. There are a number of seemingly similar conservative candidates in this primary race. However, only one will be chosen.
I believe that my training as a surgeon sets me apart from the other candidates, with my highly developed listening and deductive skills and my ability to act decisively. But, there are three other reasons why I make the best choice as your Republican nominee.
First, I have the ability to frame an issue, and to move the terms of discussion in a public debate. On day one of my campaign, I announced my platform to “Dismantle Obamacare, Defend the Second Amendment, and to Protect Life, Faith, Family and Country.” One of my opponents started this campaign by singling out the Medical Device Tax as being the only part of Obamacare that needed to go. I have pressed my case that the entire program needs to be scrapped in favor of free market solutions, and I’m pleased to report this opponent is now campaigning to dismantle Obamacare.
Second, I am able to make the case for conservative values in the face of overwhelming opposition. When we, in the Wisconsin Senate, announced our collective bargaining reforms, tens of thousands of protestors stormed the Capitol. Much of the time, the crowds were estimated at over 100,000. For three weeks, they shouted threats and curse words at us as we walked past them to get to work. In addition, the liberal Madison media was completely against us, and polling showed a majority of Wisconsinites opposed some of our reforms. But, we didn’t waffle. We didn’t fold. We didn’t cave. We made the case for our reforms to the hostile media and directly to voters back in our districts, and we turned public opinion around. We also passed our reforms with a razor-thin Republican majority in the State Senate. My opponents in this race have not been tested like this.  Some of them have spent their entire State Senate careers in a Republican supermajority. Others have no legislative experience at all. I am the only candidate who has faced this kind of political pressure and prevailed.
Third, I will make the best representative because I have met my voters. I was not born in Indiana, but I have personally knocked on more than 25,000 doors in this campaign. This has allowed me to see the communities where my voters live, where they work and to hear their concerns. In contrast, my opponents mainly campaign at structured events.
In summary, these are not ordinary times. In order to ensure the safety and prosperity of these United States, the next Congress will need to be composed of extraordinary individuals.  I believe that, for the 3rd District of Indiana, I am that extraordinary person. I share your values, and you can trust me with this monumental task.
Vote Pam Galloway for Congress.
