Editor, Times-Union:Part 1 of my rural issues letter described to you why John McCain would not be the best choice for president for our community due to his overwhelming opposition to rural issues, now let me tell you why I believe Senator Obama would be beneficial for us.

Editor, Times-Union: 1. That “no qualification of wealth, of birth, of religious faith, or civil profession is permitted to fetter the judgment or disappoint the inclination of the people.”

- Lively Meeting - Cheney Lively Meeting Editor, Times-Union: Those who attended the legislative meeting held at the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau office Feb.11 enjoyed a lively meeting. Thank you for sending someone to cover this meeting and placing emphasis on it by putting it on the front page of your Feb.13 paper. We urge everyone to contact their legislators, especially if they have questions regarding any bill that is in the House or Senate during this session.

Editor, Times-Union:Yes, Mizz Linda, I did make an error in my statement regarding the Constitution stating blacks to be considered as 2/3 of a person.

- Sick Situation - Pollution - Defending Speigle - Kolbe - Ag Day Thanks - Music Man - Wilcoxson Sick Situation Editor Times-Union: I read the letter that Mr.Don Kaiser wrote to the Times-Union about how sick he was of the Clinton witch hunt.I guess what makes me so sick is that the people of this great nation put up with the things that go on in Washington with our leaders. You say take Thomas Jefferson and some of the past presidents in the '20s, '30s and '50s, '60s, so on ...even though the past men in history did all this, it still doesn't make it right.

Editor, Times-Union:Your logic behind needing to write about the Democratic presidential candidates is amusing.

Editor, Times-Union:This is a follow-up letter to the one Tom Metzger wrote a week or two ago about the Nafta Super Highway.

Editor, Times-Union:Last Monday I attended the special meeting held by the WCS Board of Trustees.

- Lawshe Comments - Love Lawshe Comments Editor, Times-Union: I am appalled at the statements and the attitude of Warsaw City Councilman Dewey Lawshe regarding Police Chief Craig Allebach as reported in the Times-Union.Warsaw is blessed with one of the finest police departments anywhere. We have more than a 90 percent solve rate on serious crimes. The police department on a regular basis over many years spends under its budgets and returns money to the treasury. We have a Warsaw Citizens Police Academy that is a model for the country in the area of public and police cooperation. Our sworn officers are some of the best trained and most professional in the country. All of this has come about under the watch of Chief Allebach. His leadership and professionalism should be commended.

Editor, Times-Union:Things have changed tremendously in the military since I served in World War II 73 years ago. According to my sources of information, some are very good changes and some extremely bad.

Editor, Times-Union:In the case of Pollock v. Farmers’ Loan & Trust Company (175 U.S. 429, aff’d on reh’g, 158 U.S. 601, 1895), the Supreme Court held that unapportioned income taxes on interest, dividends and rents are direct taxes and therefore unconstitutional.

Editor, Times-Union: We have been in the state of trying to educate people about CAFOs since March. Letters to the editor were full of well-researched facts by independent organizations. These were not biased. Some were funded by charitable organizations. Scientists did the research and all came to the conclusion that we had a real problem with the CAFOs, the meat they produced and the manure they created. It was shown that the air around these facilities was hazardous to breath.

Editor, Times-Union:To those who are in disbelief about the allegations regarding my father: Your disbelief is warranted.

Editor, Times-Union:Will someone please give Nancy Pelosi a Valium and save one for me?

The CCAC is a wonderful complex and a great place for family fun. Connie Jetter Child Support Editor, Times-Union: Recently I read a success story regarding one of the eastern states. When child support is not paid, the county informs the state and all professional licenses and drivers license are suspended. This includes doctors, lawyers, hair stylists, contractors, plumbers, etc.Perhaps our county and state officials would consider this.

Editor, Times-Union:Like many other people in this state, I have a job.
