- Conduct Unbecoming - Toys For Tots - Driving Laws - Back To A Monarchy - Thanks To DARE - Valley Fan - Compassionate Nurse Conduct Unbecoming Editor, Times-Union: My name is Ron Barker and I live in Mentone.I was in the Navy for 22 years so my experience in regards to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is first hand. Every year there numerous men and women, usually officers, that are dishonorably discharge or at a minimum are required to retire early for "conduct unbecoming an officer."There was a Captain in the Army just a couple of years ago that made the news who was court martialed for adultery.
Okay.He did it.He admitted that he lied to his wife, his supporters. To the American people. So, what now? Well, given the fact of his "confession", does anyone in America really think that President William Jefferson Clinton didn't commit perjury. All his linguistic gymnastics aside, he, for all intents and purposes, lied under oath when he denied a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinski. Phrases like "was legally correct," and "misled" don't cut the mustard Mr.President.You were asked if you has a sexual relationship with the young intern. You had, you knew you had, and you - knowingly and intentionally - told an untruth. In my book, that's lying. Relying on complex legalisms won't change it.Relying on attacks against the prosecutors won't change it.Wagging your finger in my face, and those of some 250 million of our countrymen, while strongly denying it won't change it.

- License Snafu - Public Servants - Elks Thanks License Snafu Editor, Times-Union: The insanity I am going to tell you about has not only happened to my daughter, but many others in the state as well.In March of 2004 my daughter was forced off the road on a narrow street while trying to pull into a parking spot.A driver behind her tried to pass and there was no room.In reaction, my daughter swerved to the right clipping the front of a van.Since there was no way to prove someone ran her off the road, she accepted responsibility.
- School Closings - Blood Donations - Misleading Advertising School Closings Editor, Times-Union: The current WCS administration, and a portion of the school board of trustees, portrays the Sept.15th vote to close the three rural elementary schools - Atwood, Claypool and Silver Lake - as the end of the story.I, on the other hand, think this is where it begins.

Today, I received a letter from The American Legion concerning our U.S.flag.I admit I, like most people, take too many things for granted.I also did not realize the problems concerning our flag. When I read the letter from the legion, it does upset me and makes me think back about things.
Editor, Times-Union:I had to write a response to Luis Duenas regarding his disbelief that the United States sent men to the moon. It is sad that some conspiracy theorists still don’t believe that we were able to send a man to the moon and back, not once, but six different times, with one failed attempt during Apollo 13.
- Farewell, My Friend - Rude And Tacky - Irresponsible Drivers - Veterans' Benefits Farewell, My Friend Editor, Times-Union: "I am proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me, and I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today."Lee Greenwood, "God Bless the U.S.A."
