Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:This is a warning to all pet owners.

Editor, Times-Union:Mr. Eppenbaugh's letter on May 7, in which he unfortunately chose to link Progressives to Nazis, is the height of hate-mongering and disturbingly offensive.

Editor, Times-Union: I humbly submit the following letter for your opinion page.

- Deer Victims - Richards Gaffe Deer Victims Editor, Times-Union: I find it a very strange use of statistics by A.Richard Wine (letter 11/29) to present the whitetail deer in a bad light by using 1801-1900 statistics, which at best probably were woefully incomplete and inaccurate due to lack of present-day communication. Also, back then there were vastly fewer people and infinitesimally less mobility from place to place by those fewer people compared with today. There are huge differences, which make it impossible to compare oranges with oranges in this manner.

- Stop Whining - Mother's Day - Special Olympics - Special Thanks Stop Whining Editor, Times-Union: Recent letters to the Editor, complaining of the president's using money to wage war at the expense of veterans' medical care, is just so much whimpering and whining! I challenge anyone to prove, absolutely, that any deserving veteran has, or is, being denied proper care.

Editor, Times-Union:I have seen a number of articles noting how much we are dependent on government “entitlements”. It is becoming a real concern to me. You wonder how much longer those who pay taxes can afford to maintain those people who don’t.

- Defining Conservative - Needs Help - Etienne Defining Conservative Editor, Times-Union: Regarding my letter of 6-30-06 regarding the definition of liberal and my acceptance of that definition: I would like to thank Don Guard for his nice letter about it.I also appreciate the response by family friend, Jeff Bryan.I believe that hearing both sides of the issue is important.

- 4-H Experience - Milford Phenomenon - Anti-Violence 4-H Experience Editor, Times-Union: 4-H is a great experience for anyone who wants the opportunity to learn responsibility, financial and time management, communication skills, the list goes on and on. In this letter, I would like to thank all the people who make it possible.First, I would like to thank all who volunteered their time and effort, whether it was for a committee or being an adult leader.Next, I would like to thank the 4-H Council, they make it possible for 4-H'ers to go on trips and to workshops to learn more about a project or skill they're interested in.

Editor, Times-Union:I am really unhappy with our Indiana Election Commission.  Todd Young, candidate for U.S. Senate in Indiana, was represented by his attorney in the hearing on Feb. 19.

Editor, Times-Union:Kudos to the thoughtful teachers and the third- to fifth-grade talented students at Lincoln School in Warsaw.

Editor, Times-Union:Are you aware of the following letter? The real tragedy is the circumstances that prompted this young Naval officer to send this letter to the Majority leader of our U.S. Senate! This is from an Academy List April 21. If you question its authenticity, it is easy to check.

- Jason's Innocence - Supports Helmke - Toward Gomorrah - Zoning Laws - Maligned Intersection - Judicial Outrage - Getting Away With Murder - Kind Gesture - Helpful Mini Mart - Souder Lecture Jason's Innocence Editor, Times-Union: As Jason Fisher's attorney I feel that I must reply to the clear insinuation contained in "News Views" that Jason Fisher killed Kathy Vroman. You appear to believe that even though O.J.was acquitted, he was nevertheless guilty. And yet, you assume that since Jason's dad was acquitted, Jason must be guilty.

Editor, Times-Union:As the holidays approach, I would like to issue a warning to area retailers.

Editor, Times-Union:It's been some time since I've written to this column because it's pretty worthless to try and spread some open mindedness to the Steven Hites and Matt Triers of the world.

Editor, Times-Union:The unemployment rate in this area hovers around 12 percent.

Editor, Times-Union:The foolishness of the far-right propagandists knows no bounds.

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing to express my disappointment and anger at the Times-Union staff and editors for printing a 12-year-old child's name in the paper for the alleged battery of an elderly man.

Editor, Times-Union:My wife and I went this evening to our neighbor and friend’s viewing – John Anglin. It took us a little over three hours to get through the line but it was well worth it.

Editor, Times-Union:How much would our local charlatan complain if he was being financed by a Goldman Sachs?

Editor, Times-Union:In the past few years, we have had terms developed that are used to convey as negative an image as possible. One of these is flip flop.

- Lottery Winner - News Views - <a href="#"> - News Views - News Views - Egg Hunt - Haines Supporter - Divorce Lottery Winner Editor, Times-Union: Boy, it seems like I have been writing articles pretty often.I believe I need to write this for a meaningful purpose. As some of you know, I was very lucky last week and believe me, I accomplished something I did not believe I could do. Yes, I have played the "lottery" in our state from the beginning.I have always hoped and prayed I could be on the show one time. That for me has happened.

Editor, Times-Union:I can't believe the out-and-out lies that are being written about Barack Obama, from being a terrorist to taking your guns as the NRA is lying about.

- KCH - Prom Policy - Living Hope Says Thanks - Sorry - Proud Of KCH - Thank You - Canter Says Thanks - EMS KCH Editor, Times-Union: Recently there was a letter to the editor titled "Hospital Stay" in which a spouse expressed her anger concerning not being informed about a change in her husband's condition. While I can readily understand her being upset, I would like to offer a different perspective on KCH.

Editor, Times-Union:Well, I stand corrected on the letter I wrote blaming Obama for the plight of Medicare.

Editor, Times-Union:So many of us have felt it was so wrong and disrespectful of your paper to even publish on the front page of the Times-Union about Zach England on the day his family and friends were paying their respect to him.
