Woody, Dehart Seek Appeals Of Murder Convictions

Posted
Two men recently convicted of a double murder have filed their notice to appeal.
Brandon Woody and Kyle Dehart were convicted Oct. 7 of killing Tara Thornburg and Joshua Knisley in February 2015 in Syracuse. Woody and Dehart killed the couple while trying to steal an ounce of a marijuana from Thornburg, court records state. Both men previously announced their intent to appeal during their sentencing hearing.
The Indiana Court of Appeals will decide on the appeal. No timetable has been set.
Woody and Dehart are incarcerated in the Miami Correctional Facility, Bunker Hill. Woody was sentenced to 120 years and Dehart was sentenced to 110 years.
The appeals seek to challenge the convictions of the men. It is unclear on what grounds the appeal will be based.
A third man believed to be involved in the killings, Thomas Hursey, is scheduled for a plea hearing in December.
