AKRON - William Hollis "Billy" Clutter, 56, of Colfax, Iowa, and formerly of Syracuse, died Aug. 15, 2007, in his residence.
He was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Warsaw, to William Clayton and Alma LaVerne Felix Clutter.
He graduated from Wawasee High School, Syracuse, in 1969. He followed in his father's footsteps and was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 30 years. Most recently he was a broker for R.H. Hummer Jr. Inc., Hummer Logistics, Williamsport, Iowa. He was a member of Central Iowa Blues Society, a season ticket holder at the Iowa Speedway and a die-hard NASCAR fan. He could be anywhere in the USA and run into an old trucking buddy.
Surviving are two brothers, John (and wife Delores) Clutter, Libertyville, Ill., and Jay (and wife Judy) Clutter, North Webster; a sister, Mrs. Don (Joyce) Logan, Pacific Grove, Calif.; two nieces, Dyanne Tracy, Auburn Hills and Beaver Island, Mich., and Michelle Brandt and her two daughters, Holly (who was named Billy, his middle name) and Hope, all of Fort Wayne; two nephews, Clay "Bill" (and wife Linda and her daughter Erin), Petroskey, Mich., and Dan (and wife Susan) Tracy, and son, Sean, all of Naperville, Ill.; his special "brother" David (and wife Kathy) Tracy, Fort Wayne; his companion, Charla Jean Johnson; his dog, Duesenberg; and his cat, Chase. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy; a nephew, John; and his DizzyDog.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the family plot in Mentone Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Cox officiating.
King Memorial Home, Mentone, is in charge of arrangements.
