SIDNEY - Wilbur E. Day, 72, of Sidney, died at 6:15 a.m. Jan. 29, 2008, in his residence.
He was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Lagrange, to Ermal and Olive Cotner Day. On Oct. 21, 1956, he married Sherrill K. Wallace, who survives.
He graduated from South Whitley High School in 1953. He lived in South Whitley until December 1958, when he moved to Sidney. He worked at Liberty Homes, Syracuse, for the past 46 years and was a member of Spring Creek Church of the Brethren.
Also surviving are a son, Terry (and spouse Julie) Day, Sidney; a daughter, Tammy (and spouse Jim) Fingerle, Pierceton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vesta Bennett and Wilma Bender, both of Columbia City; and a brother, Donald Day, Texas. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Byron Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sidney Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
