Kosciusko County Councilman and former Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins received The Charles D. Smith award by Big Brothers Big Sisters Thursday night.
The award recognizes an individual or individuals who demonstrate passionate volunteerism, strong community leadership and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
Smith, a city councilman, was killed in an airplane crash Oct. 2, 2015, along with three other local men.
