The 2018 accident at Talma that killed three innocent and precious kids and injured a fourth. One hour later or one more hour sooner of daylight could or would have made all the difference towards this accident. Maybe even completely avoided the accident all together. In daylight, one can see a big yellow school bus and kids crossing a road. Pitch black darkness you cannot. That is a fact.
Our governor at the time was the main person responsible for ramming down our throats daylight-saving times. I don’t know how he sleeps at night knowing he made such a terrible decision. Indiana is blessed with a location on the west side of a time zone. We had it made for decades by not having to change any clocks and going to bed when it gets dark and getting up when its light out. Now it is just the opposite. Gone are all the campfires and watching fireworks because of the long daylight hours.
Alyssa Shepherd made a mistake, which she is paying a price. I would be fighting very hard to change the time back if I knew it was an awful decision and relatively easily rectified. That is just my opinion.
The focus should be on the safety of our children. Not how long we can stay up at night.
