I would like to express my heart-felt thanks to our community for their support of our family.
Our family was featured in the Times-Union on Aug. 30 for our daughter's Make A Wish trip. We have received many wonderful comments and people have shown in numerous ways that they truly care for our family.
Warsaw has shown us how community members can pull together to help others in their time of need. Between Living Hope Ministries providing a new handicap bathroom, to the new ramps from Day of Caring, to the wish from Make A Wish and every thoughtful word from others, this summer has been a great one for us! We have made so many new friends. We are constantly being asked about our vacation and I would like to let everyone know, it was a blast! Seeing our kids just have fun was my wish come true. They met Mickey Mouse, ate ice cream for breakfast (every day), swam, rode the carousel over a dozen times, had Christmas, watched fireworks, rode a train, loved the airplane, and tried to capture lizards. Kelly got to have her princess makeover and we all dined in Cinderella's castle. It was amazing. We came home totally exhausted but with smiles.
While going on a trip like this can't erase the reality of life, know that when you give to an organization such as this, it makes a huge impact on a child's life. Kelly will undergo surgery again, and while she waits anxiously for surgery, her memories give her a huge distraction. It also gave her lasting self confidence and hope. We met families at Give Kids the World from as far away as Ireland. All going through the same things as we are. They, too, are "making it through" and that brings encouragement to us in many ways.
