Webster Man Lands In Jail After Choking Girl Over Weed

NORTH?WEBSTER – A Webster man is accused of choking a girl in an argument over marijuana. Joel Loftus, 34, of 801 N. Panorama Drive, North Webster, faces one count of strangulation, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. On Oct. 14, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a domestic battery in North Webster. The victim told police that Loftus was arguing with her because he thought she had his marijuana. The victim told police Loftus punched her several times and knocked her down on the couch. Police allege Loftus then put his elbow on her and throat and made it difficult for her breathe. The victim told police she had photographed the marijuana in the house and several items of paraphernalia. Loftus was arrested Monday evening. Loftus was in the Kosciusko?County Jail as of this morning. Bond is set at $5,750.
