This letter is for all the selfish, spoiled brats, whiners, complainers and ignoramuses who believe their “rights,” “freedoms” and unearned privileges are being taken away because they are being asked to protect their friends, neighbors, family members and even themselves from contracting a deadly disease by wearing a damn mask!
All of you who feel this way must have flunked history at some point in your educational training. When WW1, WW2, the Korean War, 9/11 and other horrible catastrophes devastated our country, our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, fellow countrymen and even our allies across the world came together as one – as human beings – to share the pain, the fight, and the hardships in order to rebuild a stronger brotherhood of man. They sacrificed everything in order to help everyone. I have a feeling they would be ashamed and heartbroken to see all of you refusing to simply wear a small mask for a relatively minute portion of your lives.
Shame on all of you. This pandemic is a threat that has occurred only once in 100+ years. Our scientific and medical leaders are so much smarter than they have ever been, and they are working tirelessly to help all of us get through this. Too many of you, individually, act as if this “plague” affects only you. Too many of you are not paying attention to the loving, caring, people who are pulling together to help each other – those who are making the best of a horrible period in all of our lives. They are the folks who realize this “inconvenience” won’t last forever and, indeed, can even be beaten if every person does his/her part.
Unfortunately, too many of you are also too blind and too weak to realize you have to take things into your own hands. You haven’t faced the fact that you do not need any ”leader” to tell you what to do. It’s as plain as day what you need to do. Just listen to the real experts ... the ones who really know what is happening and tell you the truth for your sake – not theirs. I keep hearing talking heads say, “We are all in this together.” The problem is that too many people would rather not be in this together with anyone. They would rather be stubborn, pigheaded, loners who, I guess, would rather risk their health and everybody else’s health and take their chances ... they want to be free! Are you kidding me?
Poor babies that you are can’t go to a bar whenever you want to, can’t eat inside a restaurant (How many of your fellow citizens find themselves in food lines?), can’t party with 150 of your closest friend and OMG, can’t go to a sporting event, a play, a movie.
How on earth will you ever get through this? Face it, you may not! Just stay away from me, please.
And be warned, this could happen again. Will you be around to share and use your experience to handle it wisely and limit the damage next time?
