Wawasee's Win At Triton Tourney Leads Roundup

BOURBON — The Wawasee volleyball team won Saturday’s Triton Tournament.
En route to the title, Wawasee defeated Culver (25-11, 25-6), LaVille (25-16, 25-9), Bremen (28-26, 25-12) and John Glenn in the championship match (25-16, 25-13).
Anne Beer led the Lady Warriors with 22 kills, while Hunter Gaerte had 20 and Kaitlin Goines posted 17.
Also for Wawasee, Taylor Spangle had 13 aces, Alli Ousley finished with 48 assists and Aly Anderson had 47 digs.
The hosting Lady Trojans went 1-2, defeating Argos, but lost to John Glenn and South Central.
Triton was led by Breanna Lemler’s 12 kills, Marissa Ross’ 31 assists and Shana Anderson’s 13 digs.
Wawasee is at Westview today and hosts Concord Thursday.
Next up for Triton is at Elkhart Christian Tuesday.

At Saturday's Tippecanoe Valley Invitational, the Rochester boys cross country team came out on top, winning with 58 points. In the 11-team field, Triton was sixth with 161 points, while Manchester was eighth (208) and Tippy Valley was ninth (243). Northfield's Caleb Augustus finished first in 16:14, while Manchester's Matthew Fahs-Brown was third (16:32). Valley and Triton will be at Rochester Tuesday, while Whitko and Manchester will be Saturday’s West Noble Invitational.

Columbia City won the meet with 65 points, while Whitko was seventh (174), followed by Manchester (222), Triton (225) and Valley (226). The top local runner was Whitko's Brigit Nemitz, who finished eighth in 20:20. Valley and Triton will be at Rochester Tuesday, while Whitko and Manchester will be Saturday’s West Noble Invitational.

Saturday in Warsaw
Bringing in some stiff competition, the Warsaw boys tennis team finished fourth out of seven teams at Saturday's Warsaw Invitational. No. 4 Park Tudor won the tournament with 28 points, followed by No. 3 Fort Wayne Canterbury's 18, South Bend Adams' 14 and Warsaw's 12. Warsaw's top finishes were achieved at No. 2 doubles where Will Petro and Connor Singrey finished second, while Evan Miller was third at No. 2 singles. Warsaw hosts Wawasee for a Northern Lakes Conference match Tuesday.
