Wawasee Round-UpWawasee Tennis Bests Lady Lakers SYRACUSE – Wawasee opened its girls tennis season with a 4-1 win over visiting Lakeland Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Peyton Rookstool won in a third-set tiebreaker 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 at No. 1 singles over Beka Stroop. Freshman Elizabeth Kloepfer won her first-career match in straight sets at No. 2 singles. Kabrea Rostochak and Kendra Doerr won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Courtney Larson and Brianna Haessig won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Lakeland won the junior varsity match 5-0 over Wawasee. The Lady Warriors host Central Noble in a non-conference match Tuesday.
Fretz, Lady Warrior SB Blasts West Noble 12-0 SYRACUSE – Meghan Fretz homered twice and drove in eight runs, and was the winning pitcher in Wawasee’s 12-0, five-inning win over visiting West Noble Tuesday. Fretz allowed three hits and walked one while striking out seven in getting her second win of the young season. Faith Swihart had three hits in as many at-bats for Wawasee. Grace Anne Kerlin had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and Leah deSomer added a hit and drove in two runs. The Wawasee junior varsity won 11-0 at West Noble. Grace Allen and Rhian Galloway had two hits each, and Ciandea Ervin had two runs batted in for the Lady Warriors. Wawasee will travel to Elkhart Central for a non-conference game on Thursday, Wawasee’s last contest before spring break.
