Warsaw’s Mangas Scores 4 Points In Indiana All-Star LossFRANKFORT, Ky. – Warsaw graduate Kyle Mangas scored four points, all from the free throw line, for the Indiana All-Stars in their 111-110 double-overtime loss to the Kentucky All-Stars in the final game of the series for 2017.
Mangas did not attempt a shot from the field in Sunday’s game. He had three rebounds and four assists before fouling out.
The Kentucky win snapped a 17-game Indiana All-Star win streak in the series that features a pair of games each season.
Indiana Mr. Basketball Kris Wilkes of North Central led his team with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Connersville’s Grant Smith also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Warren Central’s Mack Smith had 23 points and Sasha Stefanovic of Crown Point scored 15 points. Jalen Adaway of Logansport had 10 points.
The Indiana All-Stars won 94-89 Saturday night in Indianapolis. Mangas had five points on 2-of-4 shooting from the floor and hitting 1 of 2 free throws. Wilkes had 29 points, Adaway scored 12 points, Castle’s Jack Nunge had 12 and Mack Smith 10 points.
In the girls games, Kentucky beat Indiana 75-67 Saturday night and Indiana won 58-51 Sunday in Frankfort. Indiana Miss Basketball Karissa McLaughlin of 4A state champion Homestead (the daughter of Warsaw graduate Sheila (Whitaker) McLaughlin and former Grace Lancer Bert McLaughlin) scored 12 points in Saturday’s game and four in Sunday’s contest.
