LEESBURG – A Warsaw man is dead and a Syracuse man injured after a two-vehicle crash just east of Leesburg Monday afternoon. Kosciusko County Fatal?Alcohol Crash Team responded to a call of an accident at about 12:34 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from Kosciusko County FACT. David Holbrook, 70, Warsaw was pronounced dead at scene. A preliminary investigation of the crash showed that Holbrook had been driving his 2002 Ford pickup truck southbound on CR 200E and failed to stop at the stop sign at CR 700N, according to the release. Holbrook struck the passenger side of a 1998 Freightliner grain truck, driven by Wayne L. Shotley, Syracuse. After colliding with the grain truck, Holbrook’s truck rolled over and he was ejected from the vehicle, according to the release. Shotley was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He is listed in serious condition. It appears neither driver was wearing a seat belt, said Chad Hill, public information officer for Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. The accident remains under investigation. Leesburg Fire Department, Lutheran Kosciusko EMS and KCSD assisted at the scene.
