One hundred years ago, books were walked over from the Central School to the new Warsaw library’s basement. “There were 4,500 volumes in there,” Library Director Ann Zydek told the board of directors Monday. “So Jan. 1, 1917, was a very important date. It did take, however, until April (for the library to open).” During National Library Week, on April 11, from 3 to 7 p.m., Zydek said there will be some birthday cake for the public to help the Warsaw Community Public Library celebrate its 100th birthday. On display will be some photos from over the years. “If you know anyone who has memories of this library, please, it would be good for them to share what those memories are or maybe come on April 11 because what we’re hoping to do is put together – online, if you’re looking digitally, you’ll see that there are some photos we’re trying to identify,” Zydek explained. She said the library is very excited to have a celebration of its past 100 years, while also looking toward the future.
