Warsaw Duo Wins Tennis TournamentWarsaw’s No. 1 doubles team of Colette Smith and Athena Schlitt finished in first place at the Warsaw Varsity Tournament Saturday. The duo led the Lady Tigers girls tennis team to a tie for third with Elkhart Memorial in the tourney. After Smith and Schlitt split the first two sets in the championship round with Penn’s Aliya Bralick and Alexis Snelson, the two team played a tiebreaker rather than a full third set. The Lady Tiger duet won 10-8 to claim the title. At No. 3 singles, Ella Knight beat Penn’s Laura Gerber 6-2, 6-4 for third place. The rest of the Lady Tigers had fifth-place finishes with wins in the final round against opponents from Homestead. Liza Lewis beat Natalie Steingass at No. 1 singles, and Alyssa Zellers won over Lauren Peters at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, Rachel Boyle and Rachel Yeager defeated Shriya Jain and Dalena Trinh. The Lady Tigers open Northern Lakes Conference play at Plymouth Tuesday.
