Warriors Avenge Loss To Rival WarsawThe Wawasee Warriors split their runs among two innings Wednesday, eventually splitting the season series with Northern Lakes Conference and Kosciusko County rival Warsaw.
In a high school baseball game played at Warsaw, the Warriors scored four runs in the fourth inning and plated three more in the seventh en route to a 7-2 win.
The Tigers, who won 13-2 in Syracuse on April 17, scored both of their runs in their final at-bats.
With the win, Wawasee is now 7-8 overall and 3-4 in the NLC, while the Tigers fell to 5-11 and 2-6.
Among Wawasee’s 10 hits, Gavin Barker, Jacob Garcia and Jairus Boyer had two each.
Boyer drove in three runs for the Warriors, while Jake Crousore had two RBIs.
For Warsaw, Alex Miller had two of the team’s six hits.
Collin Marshall and Kyle Kuhn drove each drove in a run for the Tigers.
Carter Woody got the win on the mound, as the Wawasee hurler gave up four hits and one run in 6-1/3 innings of work. He struck out one and walked one.
Josh Slabaugh pitched the final two outs for the Warriors, giving up two hits and a run.
Matt Francis was charged with the loss after giving up five hits and four runs in 3-2/3 innings for Warsaw. Francis walked three and struck out two.
Caden Bowers pitched three innings for the Tigers and gave up five hits and three runs, while walking two and striking out two.
Michael Nunez was on the mound for the final 1/3 inning.
The Tigers won the JV game 14-4 over the Warriors.
Noah Burgh and Ian Glogovsky hit home runs for Warsaw.
