Walter Emmanuel Blackwell, 76, of 900 Provident Drive, Warsaw, died at 10 p.m. Feb. 17, 2010, in Mason's Health Care Center, Warsaw.
He was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Rittan, Ohio, to Walter E. Sr. and Agnes Blackwell. In 1954, he married Velma Rae Reasinger, who survives.
He was a loving husband and father. He was a 1955 graduate of Grace College, Winona Lake. He retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons, Warsaw, where he was employed for more than 25 years. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Winona Lake, an avid reader, outdoorsman and sportsman. A hard driven man with a heart of gold, he touched the lives of all who were blessed to know him. He will be missed but not forgotten. He left this world to be with our Lord and Savior in heaven.
Also surviving are five children: Sharon Wilhite; David (and spouse Cathy) Blackwell and John (and spouse Kelly) Blackwell, all of Warsaw; Stephenie Charles, Winona Lake; and Diana Williams, Fort Wayne; a younger brother, Thomas Blackwell, Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Byers officitating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
