I have the very distinct pleasure of knowing Tony Garza as his former paralegal and as a friend.
While Tony was serving in the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office, I had numerous occasions to witness his astute work in the courts as I worked for a criminal defense attorney at Miner and Lemon, LLP. In 2004, Tony came to Miner and Lemon where I worked as his paralegal until 2010 when we both left the firm to pursue other opportunities.
During our time working together at Miner and Lemon, we worked side by side preparing cases for trial and trying them in several different jurisdictions. I was always proud to be sitting beside him at counsel table because he was always prepared, immersed in the case at hand, and performed expertly as an attorney should in a court of law. Tony cared for each of his clients both professionally and personally and has been a mentor to many in the community.
In 2005, I recall a conversation in his office following a troubling ruling by a judge from a different jurisdiction wherein we discussed what it takes to be a good judge. It was that day that I began my crusade to encourage him to run for a judgeship. He has what it takes with vast courtroom experience, knowledge of the law, a knack for listening and problem solving, integrity, honesty and a strong sense of fairness and empathy.
I strongly encourage the voters of Kosciusko County to elect Tony Garza to Superior Court 3 on November 3rd. He’s the best person for the seat.
