AKRON - Virginia Lou Leininger, 82, of 815 E. Rochester St., Akron, died at 8:52 p.m. Aug. 26, 2010, in her residence.

She was born June 24, 1928, in Indianapolis, to William Wayne and Pauline Francis Elsasser Harkins. On Dec. 28, 1948, in Rochester, she married Byron P. Leininger.

She lived in Akron since 1948. She graduated from Howe High School in 1946, and St. Vincent School of Nursing. She worked at Wabash Hospital, Woodlawn Hospital and in private duty nursing. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Akron.

Surviving are a son, Greg V. (and spouse Janet) Leininger, Wabash; a daughter, Anne A. (and spouse Jay) Dietrich, Highland Park, Ill.; a brother, David (and spouse Margaret) Harkins, Sellersburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Burial will be at a later date in Akron Cemetery
