LAKELAND, Fla. — Virgie Mae Thompson, 93, Lakeland, Fla., formerly of the Warsaw and Milford areas, passed away May 25, 2018.
She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Alger, Ohio, to parents Lester and Nora Whitaker Nichols. On July 18, 1942, she married Raymond F. Thompson.
She spent most of her years as a homemaker. She enjoyed doing crafts and was a volunteer at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for several years.
She was a member of Trinity Life Church of God, Lakeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; son, Michael; sisters, Joann Bays and Donna Hites; and brothers, Ralph and Melvin Nichols.
Virgie is survived by her daughter, Beverly Thompson, Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Candy Thompson, North Webster; grandchildren: Trish Thompson, Lakeland; Todd Thompson, Atlanta, Ga.; Brent (Cindy) Thompson, Austell, Ga.; and Emmy (Kirk) Winegarden and Toby Thompson, Fort Wayne; stepgrandchildren: Brandi (Denver) McConnell, Kennesaw, Ga.; Brooke (Jason) Romano, Hiram, Ga.; and Ben Norman, Bossier City, La.; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, with a funeral service at noon, at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Road. Pastor Gerald Justice will officiate.
Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
