Veterans

To all the establishments that honored veterans on Nov. 11, thank you for the way you honored vets either by free meals etc. However, I stood in line at the American Legion in Warsaw Post 49. Before I got to the door I saw several veterans being turned away even though they had VA identification in one form or another. As I got ready to go in I was turned away. I understand at this Legion 364 days a year they cater to non-veterans to eat, drink, play bridge, etc. After talking with other vets I learned that many had changed their membership or simply did not renew it for that reason. It's a shame you can serve your country only to be turned away on the one day that we celebrate our service. The management of Post 49 should be ashamed. Allowing non-vets to come in anytime they please and on the most recognized day of veterans to be turned away. My next letter will be to the Department of Veteran Affairs and the American Legion head office.
