Valley Spring Sports Awards Winners AnnouncedAKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Athletic Department presented its spring sports awards recently.
Katie Prater was the Golden Glove winner for the Lady Viking softball team. Abby Betten had the highest batting average and was chosen the team’s most valuable player. Ally Betten drove in the most runs and Sydney Howard had the most defensive assists and the team’s lowest earned run average. Alex Gomez was the metal attitude award winner, and Mia Gunnels was most improved. Jordan Krotke had the highest batting average among junior varsity players.
Team captains were Katie Prater, Abby Betten and Gunnels. Kayla Scott won the Booster Club award.
Captain Alec Craig was the most valuable player on the Valley baseball team and had the highest batting average. Other captains were Hunter Early, Keegan Larimer and Riley Weitzel.
Tanner Trippiedi had the most defensive assists, and Adam Myers has the most runs batted in. Ethan Yates had the best ERA and Weitzel won the mental attitude award. Tucker Shull was the Golden Glove winner, with Wes Melanson the most improved. Early was the Booster Club award winner, and Wes Johnson had the highest batting average on the J.V. team.
The golf team captains were Jeremy Julian and Bryston Canada, with Julian winning the medalist award. John Young was the best putter and Chris Schipper was most improved. Noah Hoffman was the mental attitude award winner, and Cade Brouyette won the Booster Club award. Austin Crill was the junior varsity Medalist Award winner.
Haley Hoover and Breanna Kruger were girls track team captains. Kruger won the Booster Club award and Faith Kamp was the mental attitude award winner. The most valuable players were sprinter Sarah Tucker, distance runner Jayden Kolesiak and Cora Alber in the field events. Most improved awards went to sprinter Cayleigh Byrer, distance runner Lorena Santiago and Hannah Gibbons in the field events.
Jared Mikel, Camden Tucker and Dakota Parker were captains of the boys track team. Jacob McDonald was the Booster Club award winner, and Evan Lowman won the mental attitude award. Parker was tabbed the most valuable sprinter, with Mitch Smith the most valuable distance runner and Jameson Baker the MVP in the field events. Most improved awards went to sprinter Keith Wright, distance runner Justin Peconga and Kelton Johnson in the field events.
Aerin Shewman and Kennedy Niedbalski were girls tennis team captains. America Baca was the Booster Club award winner, and Paige Hodge was most improved. Shewman was the No. 1 singles player, and Niedbalski was the spirit award winner. Kaleigh Shumaker was the junior varsity’s most improved player.
