Upcoming First Friday Offers ‘Millennium’ Theme

The theme of September’s First Friday is “Moving to the Millennium” in keeping with the yearlong celebration of Indiana’s bicentennial.
This will be the last First Friday as part of the Decades of Change bicentennial series. The bicentennial event weekend is Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1, with events all over the county for those three days. The weekend lineup can be found online at 2016kosciuskocelebrates.com.
First Friday is 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and is sponsored by the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation and the City of Warsaw.
At 6:30 p.m. this Friday at the war memorial on the southwest corner of the county courthouse square, Korean War veterans will be recognized.
Porsches will be on display all evening long. Pickle ball will be on South Buffalo Street all evening, and there also will be vintage baseball, vendors and food.
Gentle Winds will perform at Latte Lounge throughout the evening.
Recording artist Todd Herendeen will take center stage from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Friday, downtown Warsaw. He performs the music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and other artists. His performance is sponsored by Serenity House as part of its annual fundraiser for a new women’s shelter.
The Oct. 7 First Friday will be “Art-tober,” showcasing the county’s artisans. To be featured or sell art, fill out an application at www.warsawcdc.org.
First Friday on Nov. 6 will be “Thanks-for-Giving.” It is open to all not-for-profits, who can tell the public about their organization and how folks can get involved.
Hometown Holly Days returns Dec. 2 for First Friday. There will be carriage rides and the third annual twinkle light parade. The parade will take Santa Claus to Central Park for visits with the kids.
