As many of you already know, I have been on a leave of absence to recover from surgery due to an injury. I would like to thank the people of District 22 and the surrounding area for you prayers, thoughts, letters and e-mails, while I was at home recovering.
My doctor has released me to go back to work at the Statehouse, but even while I was at home recovering, I have been watching the session and committees via the House Web cams, as well as corresponding with my colleagues to ensure the people of District 22 have been well-represented.
You, too, can stay up to date on what's happening by watching the legislative process on the House Internet Program, which allows you to view both the House floor and committee proceedings at www.in.gov/legislative Click on "Watch the General Assembly session" on the right side of the screen.
Property taxes have been the No. 1 concern in my district, as well as the entire state, and I'm pleased with how quickly House Bill 1001, the property tax bill, has moved. I will have a chance to provide input on this bill, and others, by working with my Senate colleagues and when the bills move to conference committee.
I am eager for more of your thoughts about House and Senate legislation that has passed. I may be contacted by phone at 800-382-9841, by e-mail at h22@iga.in.gov or by mail at 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN. If you have a problem, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will work to resolve any issues.
