Unreliable Source

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

A recent contributor to "Letters to the Editor" urged readers to "read the reports" of a publication called the Desert Review to learn the truth about COVID. I am urging even more strongly that readers research this publication itself in order to learn the real truth.

I found that this publication has been rated by reliable fact checkers as "biased and questionable based on the frequent promotion of pseudoscience, conspiracy theories, and misinformation regarding COVID-19." Furthermore, the fact checkers base their rating on "... one or more of the following: extreme bias, consistent promotion of propaganda/conspiracies, poor or no sourcing to credible information, a complete lack of transparency, and/or is fake news (the deliberate attempt to publish hoaxes and/or disinformation for profit or influence)." – Media Bias Fact Check

I believe that no matter who reports what they propose to be factual, truthful information, readers are merely puppets and doing themselves a grave disservice if they accept everything on face value without doing a bit of – no, a lot of – research first.
