Two Hospitals

We have been hearing a lot about Parkview Health building a facility in our town. One can see the sign on U.S. 30 near the new YMCA. Frankly I don’t see a need for another hospital facility in such a small town! The history of this small town proves two facilities can’t survive well. It has been proven twice.
I am not aware of any town our size in Indiana with an area population less than 25,000 that has two hospital facilities. KCH provides a nice facility, good services, and strive to improve. It is a part of the Lutheran Health System. Besides holding high standards, it gives access to excellent doctors. In fact if one knows where to look on the Internet, one will find it with higher rankings than other nearby facilities. Frankly, I can’t complain.
My family has always received excellent care at KCH. So why are we testing this again? We don’t seem to learn from past. Could it be about revenue? The Warsaw area is doing very well economically compared to a lot of other areas. One can see how well our present medical services and facilities fair.
So if a health system needs revenue, it has to do something to get into a community to get some of that revenue. Could it be through the building of the new YMCA? I think a new YMCA is great but not at the cost of hurting our present medical services. A lot of YMCA’s have been built in several northeastern Indiana communities. You would be surprised whose name is on them.
I am amazed at how quickly people jump on the band wagon to get something they want. We will go to great means, even shoot ourselves in the foot to satisfy our wants. Where has man’s discernment gone? I wonder who the next community will be to receive a YMCA? Frankly I am satisfied with KCH. I don’t plan on switching any of my healthcare at this point. Don’t forget what KCH has done for our community. Let’s give it our support and help encourage it to continue on to improve and do better?
