A truckload of supplies gathered by Kosciusko County residents for victims of Hurricane Harvey has been delivered.
More than 20 tons of food, personal hygiene items and cleaning products were collected here and delivered to Houston, Texas, by Metzger Trucking of Silver Lake.
The majority of items came from local families, according to Sandy Hatcher of World Compassion Network, Warsaw.
Donors included the Warsaw girls soccer team, which led a Tigers for Texas food drive, and other area schools and churches.
A couple from Three Rivers, Mich., drove here with a pickup and trailer filled with food, diapers and cleaning supplies, Hatcher said.
Those who had collected donations brought them to the Owen’s parking lot, and more than 20 volunteers gathered last week at the World Compassion Network warehouse on Winona Avenue to pack the supplies for delivery.
Metzger Trucking, which offered to deliver the supplies, left Sunday for Houston. The supplies were unloaded on Wednesday.
“The generosity of our community blows me away,” Hatcher said in an email.
