A man escaped injury at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday after a Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department employee pulled him out of his truck that was submerged in Center Lake. Chris Holsclaw said he had heard the man screaming for help and he jumped in the lake and pulled Darrin Teeple, 36, CR 450E, Pierceton, out of his truck. Holsclaw told police he was behind Teeple east of the north/south railroad tracks at the intersection of Lyon and Detroit streets. Teeple appeared to be passed out at the wheel. Just before the train came, Teeple accelerated his truck, missing the train, but ending up in the water, according to a crash report from the Warsaw Police Department. Teeple was taken to a hospital by Warsaw police for a blood test, and results are still pending, according to Capt. Kip Shuter. Damage to Teeple’s truck was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
