Triton Elementary Student Council Raises $1,000 For Operation Quiet Comfort Through Penny Wars

BOURBON — Triton Elementary School students turned spare change into a meaningful contribution to a worthy cause this week as the Triton Elementary Student Council hosted its annual Penny Wars fundraiser to support Operation Quiet Comfort.
Throughout the week, students brought in spare change to cast their votes for the teacher or staff member they wanted to see duct-taped to the wall during Friday afternoon’s pep rally. The competition encouraged student participation while raising awareness and funds for Operation Quiet Comfort, according to a news release from Triton School Corporation.
The fundraiser collected $596.21. The student council then contributed additional funds, bringing the total donation to an even $1,000.
School nurse Brenna Cook received the most votes and earned the honor of being duct-taped to the wall during Friday’s pep rally.
Following the fundraiser, members of the Triton Elementary Student Council presented the $1,000 check to Jan Houin, shipping director, and Aimee Blue, secretary, representing Operation Quiet Comfort.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with such an amazing organization and to help our students understand the importance of giving back,” said representatives of Triton Elementary School. “Penny Wars is a fun way to bring our school community together while teaching students that even small contributions can make a big difference.”
Triton School Corporation extends its appreciation to the students, staff and student council members who helped make this fundraiser a success and supported Operation Quiet Comfort through their generosity, stated the release.
