The Strengthening Families Program started in 2016 through Kosciusko Cares.
The vision of Kosciusko Cares is to provide a safe community with abundant healthy lifestyle choices, where a sense of pride in our children and youth is apparent, education is valued and together we support resilient children and families, according to a news release from Tri Kappa.
Strengthening Families is a 14-week program that builds family communication and relationships. The goals of the program include conflict, stress and anger management strategies; communication and problem solving; celebrate family as well as individual strengths; relationship development between caregivers and children.
Approximately 15 families participate in Strengthening Families each session. Families enjoy weekly dinner together, breakout sessions by age group, family meeting and activity time each Monday night.
According to Mandy Bailey, program coordinator, “Strengthening Families allows families to spend intentional quality time together for 14 weeks. It is a powerful commitment to each other to build a true sense of team within the family.”
Strengthening Family Program is grateful for community members who have volunteered and supported Strengthening Families through meals, encouragement and volunteer work, including Tri Kappa, as well as Valley Springs Fellowship Church, Warsaw First United Methodist Church, Lake City Women's League, Warsaw Community Schools, Agaitas, Warsaw Community Church women's group and small groups, Deb Paton Showley Realtor Group, SB Communications, Leesburg Methodist Church, 4-H Junior Leaders and countless individual donors/volunteers.

Tri Kappa is a women’s service organization in the state of Indiana. The Warsaw chapter was founded in 1909 and its purpose is to promote charity, culture and education. Tri Kappa’s goal is to come together with purpose to serve the people of the community.
