Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Tri Kappa partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County to participate in the Women Build project.
On Sept. 15, 12 Tri Kappa women put on their pink hard hats, work gloves, picked up hammers and joined Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County in support of the all Women Build project, according to a news release from Tri Kappa.
Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County’s mission is seeking to put God’s love into action. Habitat brings women together to build homes, community and hope.
With determination, hard work and teamwork what began as stacks of lumber quickly came together as a framed home. Through each nail that was pounded, every board that was measured and cut with precision and every wall that was installed the Tri Kappa women helped to build community and hope. This hope in the form of a home will soon provide stability, comfort and a solid foundation for a mother and her son, stated the release.
The Women Build day was an example of how purpose-driven volunteering transforms not only a worksite but also the lives connected to it, stated the release.
Chapter President Camerin Burnworth said, “The Habitat Women’s Build was an unforgettable experience. It was very rewarding and uplifting to see our team come together to not only support each other but to support a family in our community with the blessing of a new home that is safe and secure. It was truly a day of sisterhood and purpose.”
Women Build Project is an annual event where women from across the county come together to build and fund an entire home for a family in the Homeownership Program. Hundreds of volunteers and donors make this happen and it’s a testament to the power of women working together to provide a safe, decent home. Not only that, but this event is loads of fun and laughter. This year, 25 teams of approximately 280 women will build this home located at 1813 Hepler Drive, Warsaw. The cost of the home is $150,000 and is nearly fully funded. Any overage will go towards the next home building project.
