NAPPANEE - Treva Fern Slabaugh, 88, of 2112 Beach Road, Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 5:30 a.m. June 28, 2010, in her residence.
She was born July 3, 1921, in Nappanee, to Henry and Lizzie Yoder Schmucker. On Oct. 15, 1940, she married Harvey J. Slabaugh, who died Dec. 15, 1990.
Living her lifetime is the same house, she was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are three sons: Robert (and spouse Irene) Slabaugh, Lott, Texas; Lloyd R. (and spouse Martha) Slabaugh, Goshen; and Harlan (and spouse Rita) Slabaugh, Nappanee; three daughters: Joan (and spouse Herbert) Lehman, Nappanee; Laura Jean (and spouse Jacob) Helmuth, Sarasota, Fla.; and Sharon (and spouse Eldon) Christner, Goshen; 33 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Burkholder, Bremen. She was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers and two daughters.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ernie Whetstone residence at 2141 Beech Road with Home Ministry officiating. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
Calling is after 2 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at the Ernie Whetstone residence.
