Torpy Response

In regard to the Sept. 8 letter of the very nice Linda Torpy:

The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate, and total documented prison population in the world. As of yearend 2006, a record 7.2 million people were behind bars, on probation or on parole. Of the total, 2.2 million were incarcerated. More than 1 in 100 American adults were incarcerated at the start of 2008. The People's Republic of China ranks second with 1.5 million, despite having over four times the population of the U.S. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Incarceration in the United States.)

Like I said, USA has the highest crime in the world.

The above does not include gangbangers out on the street who do own assault rifles.

By the way, patriotism doesn't put food on the table or pay bills. Sorry.

I don't make $250,000 or more. I don't own any assault rifles, which Obama wants to stop.

Palin did read from a script as John McCain's campaign said. His senior adviser was preparing it for her, as the press was told. I did see that. I'm sorry if we don't agree. Her interview was being made fun of. The bridge to nowhere will be if McOil "I see Russia from my house" gets in office. Remember Title 9 is from Ted Kennedy not Palin's. Which she's been dribbling.

McCain talks change, but he's been in office for 26 years of those. So who's a hypocrite?

Abortion is and will always be a woman's choice whether anybody agrees or not. Rape and incest pregnancies are an abomination. Rape and incest only, ma'am. Not the others.

As of Sept. 17, 2008, 4,168 have died in Iraq. But beyond this is the cost to the already sputtering U.S. economy. All told, the bill for the Iraq war is likely to top $3 trillion. And that's a conservative estimate.

I, too, have heroes in my family going back to the Revolutionary War. And I thank your family for their service.

Past eight years, George Bush's policies has not trickled down to me. That's why I and 500,000 newly registered voters in Indiana are voting for Obama.

By the way, whatever.

Thank you, and see you at the polls.
