NORTH MANCHESTER – Toby L. Hughes, 75, of Huntington, died at 9:51 a.m. Feb. 9, 2019, in his residence.

He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in North Manchester, to Estill and Bessie Marsalett Hughes.

He was employed at Peabody Seating Co. for 25 years, then was employed at Huntington Sheet Metal for 28 years, retiring in 2010.

He was a member of Huntington Church of the Brethren, Huntington. He enjoyed woodworking and loved animals. He was an avid gardener.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Judy Frederick, Huntington; sons: Lonnie Hughes, Syracuse; Richard Dwayne Hughes, Decatur; and David Allen (Rosalie) Hughes, North Webster; brothers, William (Judy) Hughes, Rochester, and Glen E. (Linda) Hughes, Mentone; sisters: Betty (Lowell) Collins, Winona Lake; Brinda K. Bocook, Claypool; and Linda L. (Neil) Evans, Silver Lake; grandchildren: Travis Hughes, Justin Hughes and Shalena Rude; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by  his parents; two brothers, Oliver B. Hughes and Elmer Hughes; and two sisters, Doris Conley and Ula Hurd.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, with calling one hour prior, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester. The Rev. Glen Hughes will officiate, and burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is also from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at McKee Mortuary.
