Tippy Valley Volleyball Sweeps Triton To Lead Roundup

BOURBON — The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team got a convincing three-game victory in Bourbon Thursday. Defeating Triton 25-18, 25-4, 25-14, Valley utilized a balanced attack. Valley was led by Courtney Newsome and Kelsey Ball, who each had nine kills, while Caylie Teel and Sara Alexander each had eight. Also for the Lady Vikings, Alexander had three blocks and Kelsey Eckert led the squad with 21 assists, followed by Tenaya Shull’s 15. In defeat, Triton was led by Breanna Lemler’s five kills and Marissa Ross’ three. Triton hosts its own invitational Saturday, while Valley’s next match is Tuesday at home against LaVille. In Northern Lakes Conference play Thursday, the Wawasee volleyball team got a three-game sweep at Goshen, 25-23, 26-24, 25-14. Hunter Gaerte and Alli Ousley each posted 10 kills in the victory, while Ousley also had 17 assists and two aces. The 8-4 Lady Warriors will be at Saturday’s Triton Tournament. WAWASEE DEF. The Lakeland Christian Academy volleyball team got a five-game victory in Huntertown Thursday. Taking on the home schooled Fort Wayne Falcons, LCA won 25-22, 20-25, 24-26, 25-22, 16-14. At Peru Municipal Golf Course Thursday, the Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team posted a pair of wins. Shooting a 237, Tippecanoe Valley defeated Maconaquah’s 255 and North Miami’s 267. Valley was led by Alyson Ross’ 52, followed by Elizabeth Van Meter’s 58, Emy Gelbaugh’s 63 and Kara Eaton’s 64. In a Three Rivers Conference boys tennis match at Whitko Thursday, the hosting Wildcats fell 4-1 against Manchester. Manchester won on both doubles courts, as Riley Woods and Dalton Day were at No. 1 and the tandem of Morgan Metzger and Noah Cain were winners at No. 2. On the singles courts, Manchester’s Max Karg and Brayton Spann won at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Whitko’s win came at No. 1 singles, where Tyler Baugher claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
