Three Lady Lancers Named To All-Crossroads League Soccer Team

WINONA LAKE – Three members of Grace College’s women’s soccer team were recognized by the Crossroads League.

Hannah Tkacz, Allison Vroon and Abby Schue each received placement on the postseason All-League Team, released Tuesday.

Tkacz and Schue formed the backbone for Grace’s stingy defense this year. The Lady Lancers yielded only 1.2 goals per game this season, and the backline recorded seven shutouts.

Schue ends her Lady Lancer career as one of the most decorated players in program history. She was a First Team NAIA All-American last year, the highest individual award a Lady Lancer has received from the NAIA; she boasts 43 shutouts in 87 matches, amassing 380 saves and a career 0.8 goals against average.

Vroon enjoyed a breakout year as a midfielder. She was one of only two players (Sabina Meyers) to start in all 20 matches. The speedy winger posted career-best numbers of two goals and three assists.

Oliveira Named All-League

WINONA LAKE – Breno Oliveira was honored to the All-Crossroads League Team on Tuesday.

Oliveira was the lone representative from Grace’s men’s soccer team, who won the Crossroads League Tournament last week. The Lancers are the only team still competing in the league as they punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championships.

Oliveira was third on the team in goals this year and second in assists. The dynamic midfielder scored five goals, including two game winners, and handed out three assists.

Grace will travel Baldwin City, Kan. to take on  No. 5 Baker University at 8 p.m. EST Saturday in the first round of the NAIA tournament. The Lancers will appear in the national tournament for the first time in 35 years.
