COLUMBIA CITY — Thomas Wayne Brandenburg, 70, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Whitley County, a son of the late Floyd R. and Doris L. Bishop Brandenburg. His formative years were spent in the Larwill area. He graduated from Larwill High School in 1965. He then attended Ball State University.
He served in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area.
For 20 years he worked for Western and Southern Insurance, Fort Wayne. He then worked for H.H. Gregg, Fort Wayne, for a couple of years, and completed his work career with Craftline Printing, Fort Wayne, with over five years of service.
An accomplished country and western dancer, he belonged to the award-winning Hardwood Shiners. He also was a member of the Indiana Two-Steppers. He enjoyed watching Indianapolis Colts games.
He is survived by his two children, Sean T. (Julie) Brandenburg, Key West, Fla.; and Tanya L. Kirby, Greenwood; and siblings: Terry L. (Priscilla) Brandenburg, South Whitley; William C. (Elizabeth) Brandenburg, North Manchester; Judith A. Hall, Moxee, Wash.; and Jeanna K. (John) Moore, Pierceton.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.
